For me, photography is one of many ways to capture the beauty and intensity of the world and its people. I love photography, because it is fast and direct. You don’t even need a camera. It’s a special way of seeing, a condition of sharpened perception. I often store a situation only in my head, as if I had seen it through the viewfinder.
At the same time it is a possibility to get in contact with each other: directly when taking a picture, and indirectly when talking about it. The attraction and the challenge lie in telling a story in only one image. Often this does not succeed, but when it does, there is something magical about it.
My goal is to capture images that touch the viewer without the need of an explanation. They should not be hermetic, and give everyone the space to reflect on their own life in relation to the world.
Über mich
Fotografie ist für mich einer von vielen Wegen, die Schönheit und Intensität der Welt und der Menschen einzufangen. Ich liebe die Fotografie, weil sie schnell und direkt funktioniert. Man benötigt nicht einmal eine Kamera dazu. Es ist eine besondere Art des Sehens, der geschärften Wahrnehmung. Oft speichere ich eine Situation nur im Kopf ab, als hätte ich sie durch den Sucher gesehen.
Gleichzeitig ist sie eine Möglichkeit, miteinander in Kontakt zu treten: direkt bei der Aufnahme, und indirekt beim Sprechen über die Bilder. Der Reiz und die Herausforderung liegen darin, in nur einem Bild eine Geschichte zu erzählen. Das gelingt oft nicht, aber wenn es gelingt, hat es etwas Magisches.
Mein Ziel ist es, Bilder zu machen, die den Betrachter berühren, ohne einer Erklärung zu bedürfen. Sie sollen nicht hermetisch sein, und jedem den Raum geben, sein eigenes Leben, und sein Verhältnis zur Welt zu reflektieren.
